To continue the series on chess middlegames, I have covered the topic of underestimating your opponentβs attacking potential and the potential danger to your position.
I have covered three games played by very strong grand masters, in which 2600+ rated players got destroyed because they did not take their opponentβs threats seriously.
There is no one way of improving at recognizing your opponentβs resources and preventing his threats, but prophylaxis and a sense of danger can be strengthened and improved over time. The best way to do so is to learn from other peopleβs mistakes!
