1. About ChessTerra
ChessTerra is a curated chess video platform that aggregates instructional chess content from YouTube creators including GothamChess (Levy Rozman), GMHikaru (Hikaru Nakamura), Agadmator, Daniel Naroditsky, Hanging Pawns, ChessBase India, and many others. Our mission is to make great chess education freely accessible in one organised, searchable destination.
2. YouTube Content and the YouTube API
ChessTerra embeds video content using the YouTube IFrame API. All videos displayed on ChessTerra are hosted on YouTube and are embedded in compliance with YouTube’s Terms of Service (youtube.com/t/terms) and the YouTube API Services Terms of Service (developers.google.com/youtube/terms).
Creator Disclosure and Benefits
ChessTerra does not host, download, or re-upload any video content. All chess videos remain hosted exclusively on YouTube and are owned by their respective creators. By embedding their content, ChessTerra:
- Drives views directly to YouTube — every video play on ChessTerra counts as a YouTube view, contributing to creator watch time and ad revenue
- Increases audience reach — chess enthusiasts who discover a creator’s content through ChessTerra become subscribers and long-term fans on YouTube
- Provides free promotional exposure — creator names, channels, and content are prominently attributed and linked throughout the site
- Costs creators nothing — inclusion on ChessTerra is entirely free and requires no action from creators
Any creator who does not wish their content to appear on ChessTerra may request removal by contacting us through our community forum. We will promptly remove any requested content.
3. Intellectual Property
All video content displayed on ChessTerra is the intellectual property of the respective YouTube creators and channel owners. ChessTerra claims no ownership over any embedded video content.
ChessTerra’s original content — including editorial articles, opening guides, site design, taxonomy organisation, and written commentary — is the property of Haselton Media Group and may not be reproduced without permission.
4. User Accounts and Community Forum
You may use ChessTerra without creating an account. If you register for an account or participate in our community forum (powered by wpForo), you agree to:
- Provide accurate registration information
- Keep your password confidential and not share your account
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
- Not impersonate any person or entity
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use ChessTerra to:
- Post spam, advertising, or off-topic content in the community forum
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site
- Scrape, crawl, or copy content in a manner that exceeds normal browser use
- Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes third-party intellectual property
6. Affiliate and Partnership Links
ChessTerra may include affiliate links to Chess.com and other chess services. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase or sign up, ChessTerra may receive a small commission at no cost to you. Affiliate links are used to help support the site’s operating costs.
7. Disclaimers
ChessTerra is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that video content will remain available (as it is hosted externally on YouTube). We are not responsible for the accuracy of video content created by third-party chess educators.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Haselton Media Group shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of ChessTerra.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. The “last updated” date above will reflect changes. Your continued use of ChessTerra after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from use of ChessTerra shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in the state where Haselton Media Group is incorporated.
