In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will share with you some new, interesting, and brilliant chess opening traps against the Scandinavian Defense for White. The Scandinavian Defense (or Center Counter Defense, or Center Counter Game) is characterized by the moves: 1.e4 d5.

It is one of the best and most played chess openings for Black (up to 2000 ELO). The general goal for Black is to prevent White from controlling the center of the board with pawns, effectively forcing an open game, while allowing Black to build a strong pawn structure.
