2018 Chess Candidates Tournament, Round 3

Wesley So unfortunately started the candidates tournament the worst possible way, losing the first two games. The psychological state he must have been in before round 3 is unimaginable.

Him and Ding Liren played a Ruy Lopez in which Ding decided to go for the aggressive Marshall Attack, a variation which often brings exciting games.

This one ended in a draw, with a dull opposite colored bishops ending, but at least Wesley managed to recuperate a bit and not have his first break day knowing he lost all games. Let’s hope he can strengthen himself and play well on Wednesday!
