LIVE Blitz Chess Commentary #323: English Symmetrical, Botvinnik system reversed

This is a blitz chess game I played as white with time control 3|2. The opening was the English Symmetrical, Botvinnik system reversed. A single weakness in one’s position can provide an opponent with an effective plan. Play follows theory for several moves in this typical positional struggle out of the Symmetrical English. Black’s decision to trade light-squared bishops not only weakens the white kingside thus making some attack more probable, but also carries with it a long-term negative consequence of remaining with an inferior dark-squared bishop.
