This is the round 1 game between Alshouha Basil of Jordan, and Alexander Grishuck of Russia from the 41st Chess Olympiad Open 2014 which is held in Tromsø, Norway. The game enters an open Sicilian with an attempt by white to turn towards a Smith-Morra Gambit. We see with this game the importance of move order, how a delay with c3 gambit play can turn badly, and how restricting any one of your pieces to the defense of another, for even the shortest amount of time, can subject one to the tactic of deflection.
