Presenting Amber 2011: Round 1 (Rapid Game = 25 min + 10 sec increment) between Anish Giri (Netherlands) and Levon Aronian (Armenia). Aronian went on to crush the competition in this event and win by a large margin. Giri, on the other hand, had a poor performance in the tournament although is very new to playing with the super-elite and is sure to improve his results in future events. Aronian chose to answer Giri’s opening d4 with the Dutch, quickly sacrificed a piece for the initiative, and concluded an excellent attack. Aronion was not scared to sacrifice intuitively and won a deserved game in stylish fashion. Congratulations to Levon Aronian for taking down the win at Amber 2011!
