Maroczy Bind against the Dragon is one of the most famous struggles in the Sicilian Defense, and I’ve been on the white side of it many times, although not recently.
Unlike many other Dragon lines, it’s not very sharp, and most of the pieces get traded off if black wishes it so, but, most dragon players like tactics so that seldom happens. It did this game though, and we were left with a very thematic endgame in which white has pawns on d5, e4 and f3 with a light squared bishop, and black has a knight and a lot of dark squares to target.
My opponent basically played a blitz game and ended up blundering away a perfectly levelled game, but the endgame he blundered it was way above my head, and I don’t think spending all of his clock time would have helped him understand it better either.
