Featured is a brief introduction for the chess variant Capablanca Chess along with a 10+5 game I played against Fairy-Stockfish level 5 on pychess.org. I’ve only been playing this variant for a few days now, and it feels like it has been stretching my mind. Capablanca chess (or Capablanca’s chess) is a chess variant invented in the 1920s by World Chess Champion José Raúl Capablanca. It incorporates two new pieces (chancellor/archbishop) and is played on a 10×8 board. Capablanca believed that chess would be played out in a few decades (meaning games between grandmasters would always end in draws). This threat of “draw death” for chess was his main motivation for creating a more complex version of the game.
I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
