In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you the winning attacking plan for White in the Italian Game which happens after the opening moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4. And Black usually responds with 3…Bc5 which is the Giuoco Piano or with 3…Nf6 which is the Two Knights Defense.
Both these main variations lead to similar positions and the position after 4.d3 is one of the most common positions. And that’s the position where a lot of the amateur and club players make common errors or play very simple moves and lose the game eventually.
