Leela Chess Zero traps Stockfish in the King’s Indian Defense, Simagin variation | TCEC Superfinal

Featured is game 71 between Leela Chess Zero (LCZero) and Stockfish from the Top Chess Engine Championship, Season 21’s Superfinal match of 100 games. The opening is a King’s Indian Defense, Simagin variation. I was curious enough about many of this game’s alternative human-like moves that it kept my attention for nearly 10 hours. Stockfish’s pressure on c4 gave great direction to Leela Chess Zero’s play. After some preparation, Stockfish executed a tactical sequence on the queenside. Leela reacted with a deep trap that allowed Stockfish to remain a pawn up, while essentially being a rook down!
