Risk · Road to GM, Game 179

This game is a great example of how indecision and aversion to risk taking can cost you a win.

I missed a couple of opportunities to win, even though I was aware of them and calculated them simply because I wasn’t sure they were completely risk free and led to a winning position. That is not how you win in chess!

By doing so I allowed my opponent to wriggle out of a completely lost position in which he had no chances, and gave him a position in which equality was pretty much assured with correct play and several easy to spot exchanges.
Luckily for me he did not use the opportunity. I should not have won this game though!
