Complications in the Caro-Kann · Road to GM, Game 175

The Caro-Kann is the most beautiful opening in chess in my opinion. No matter how much you study it and how well you think you understand it, there are always positions in which you can find yourself completely lost for moves and plans.
That is what happened to me in this game. I had misjudged the position severely on three different occasions, missing my opponent’s resources and my own active plans, or simply not seeing how dangerous they were.
That could and should have cost me the game. Luckily for me, my opponent did not see some key opportunities himself.
