In this video lesson, the RCA guest coach IM Maximiliano Perez explains how to play in closed positions. He gives you practical tips and strategical ideas to play in closed positions with an illustrative example – a game played between David Bronstein and Zarkov (chess computer).

He chose this game because in the 1990s, chess computers were good tacticians, but were not good strategical players. Therefore, it is instructive to see how Bronstein exploited this and used his strategical understanding about closed positions to beat the computer.

From this video lesson, you will learn the overall strategy of closed positions in chess, where to place your king, where to attack, how much time to take to maneuver or coordinate your pieces, and so much more.
