A Rook Endgame Lesson with Akiba Rubinstein

Akiba Rubinstein was one of the strongest and most precise chess players in history. He is very underrated compared to Alekhine, Lasker, or other players at their peak during the early 20th century. In this video I go over his famous rook endgames to try and draw instructive lessons from his mastery.

Learning chess is tough, and probably the most effective way to get better is to analyze and look at games played by players who only played simple moves, strong moves, without unnecessary complications or showing off. Akiba Rubinstein is the perfect example of such play. I have covered three of his famous rook endgames. I hope you learn something!

The games I have covered are:
Rudolf Spielmann – Akiba Rubinstein, St. Petersburg (1909)
Oldrich Duras – Akiba Rubinstein, St. Petersburg (1909)
Akiba Rubinstein – Alexander Alekhine, Karlsbad (1911)
