Hard Core Calculation | Road to GM, Game 85

My round 1 game from Senta Open in which I played an IM in the Panov Caro-Kann.

2019 Senta Open, Round 1, 07/19/2019, IM M. Andrijevic (2238) vs S. Tomic (1910), Caro-Kann, Panov Botvinnik Attack

Senta open started badly. But I have to say that I am satisfied with how I played up to a point. The opening went well (for a change) and I managed to equalize almost. I got a complicated position and spent loads of time, though, but ended up calculating everything correctly.

My opponent made a horrible blunder soon after my long think. A blunder which I failed to use. I missed my chance to get a better or almost winning position. I did spend 20 minutes trying to figure the winning move out but didn’t play it.

Tomorrow is a new day. I got the black pieces again unfortunately, but I’m going to make the best of them. I am playing a player rated above 2000. Cross your fingers!
