Sreeshwan Maralakshikari, the under-12 Commonwealth Gold Medalist 2018 delivered a huge surprise by beating legendary Ukranian chess grandmaster Vassily Ivanchuk in the first round of 2018 Sunway Sitges! On move 19 Sreeshwan went for a risky pawn sacrifice and after Ivanchuk failed to answer with a precise defense, he went for a bishop sacrifice on g6 thus destroying Black’s defensive shield!
