Aronian’s g4 is a highly commital decision, especially when one’s king is castled on the kingside. The resulting position is double-edged, and forces Caruana on the defensive against the coming storm. This event consists of 8 participants, namely Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2809), Vladimir Kramnik (2800), Wesley So (2799), Levon Aronian (2794), Fabiano Caruana (2784), Ding Liren (2769), Alexander Grischuk (2767), and Sergey Karjakin (2763). This tournament is being held in Berlin, Germany. The winner becomes the challenger for the World Chess Championship title against Magnus Carlsen in November of 2018.
