Bobby Fischer’s Deadly Weapon Against the Ruy Lopez – Webinar!

Bobby Fischer was a renowned openings expert. Despite playing a seemingly limited number of openings (1.e4, Sicilian and King’s Indian Defenses) he studied them to a depth that was unheard of in the 1960s. That’s why when we follow Fischer and play one of his favorite opening lines, we can be sure of getting a good position.

Against the Ruy Lopez – or Spanish Opening – Fischer surprised everyone in 1966 by resurrecting the exchange variation, 4.Bxc6! This seemingly meek move proved to be a deadly weapon and, this Saturday, IM Valeri Lilov is going to show the secrets of this opening.

You’re going to learn:

Why this pawn structure is winning for White. Find a way to exchange all the pieces and you have a textbook win!
How, even after an early Queen exchange, Fischer was able to generate enormous piece activity and drive the great Lajos Portisch off the board.
The surprise attack that simply destroys the Black King’s defenses if he castles Queenside (it looks safe but, as Gligoric found out against Bobby, it’s anything but!)
How Bobby kept faith with this weapon, using it to spectacularly crush Spassky in just 21 moves in their 1992 rematch.
These games reveal how Bobby Fischer was able to use positional threats to tie up his opponents’ pieces before launching a tactical storm to finish the game.
