GM Roman Dzindzichashvili believes in getting an advantage early on in games which is why he is constantly searching (and finding) surprise weapons and mastering them.
Most club players expect the main lines when playing their favorite openings so there is a big opportunity to drown them in unchartered waters if you know what you’re doing.
In his course “New Lines & Novelties against the Caro Kann, Alekhine & French”, Roman shares his best discoveries against these solid openings. His variations are completely sound and he backs them up with analysis and explanations of the ideas so you know exactly what you’re doing no matter what your opponent plays.
In this free preview, Roman expands on his idea in the French Winawer of 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.Bd2! Having already covered how to get an advantage against Black’s normal reply 5…Ne7 elsewhere in the course, he turns his attention to the clever 5…Nh6!? move.
The idea behind playing the Knight to the rim is that it can jump into g4 later on, with a possible view to claiming a post at e3 if supported by a Black pawn on d4.
This is a line French Winawer players must be aware of and, thankfully, Dzindzi has got an excellent reply to it!
Enjoy the preview and remember to check out the full course!
