This game features the unorthodox opening 3.b3 against an attempted KID opening. Eugene looks at why use unorthodox moves and why they are not played by GMs, and explains the reasons for both. When faced with such moves, we need to find the weaknesses that have been created and form our strategy around it. Beginners will derive some benefit from this Chess Lecture, but intermediate and advanced players will find it particularity instructive when Black plays a5, intending a4 to gain space on the queen side, and the advantages given if White prevents a4 by playing a4 himself.
