Tal gets attacked!

Roman treats us to a heavyweight encounter Kasparov vs. Tal to demonstrate how to build attacking positions. The opening was a Nimzo-Indian with 4.e3. Roman discusses how Kasparov is trying to build up an attacking position by ensuring Black’s pieces remain passive followed by a logically executed attacking plan.

Next up for Kasparov is Korchnoi and a sharp English that is well known to theory; Kasparov starts an attack with the Queens being exchanged. Korchnoi – famed for his defensive abilities – crumbles against Kasparov’s piece activity despite Black having the Bishop Pair. Roman accentuates there is no need to have the Queens on the board to have a strong attack.
