This is the round 6 game between the world’s #1 ranked female chess player Judit Polgár of Hungary, and Huynh Minh Huy Nguyen of Vietnam from the 41st Chess Olympiad Open 2014 which is held in Tromsø, Norway. An open Sicilian, Kan variation with Bd3 and a c4/e4 pawn grip on d5 turns critical as early as move 16. White’s 16th move, f3, has more than just a defensive intention as Polgar soon reveals. At this high a level of play, the loss of a mere pawn without any compensation will often equate to a technical knock out.
