The most common problem for beginner chess players is not being aggressive enough. The best players in chess will start a game by immediately striving to create threats, place pressure on the opening, and especially create problems that your opponent is forced to solve. However many beginner players simply place the pieces on good squares and try to build a solid position – without attacking the opponent! The only way you can win a game without being aggressive and attacking your opponent is by hoping for a mistake from your opponent – and I wouldn´t want to win games by only counting on that! The follow chess video excerpt is from the 2.5 hour Empire Chess DVD ¨Winning Chess for Beginners – Be Aggressive¨ presented by Grandmaster Damian Lemos as the Argentine chess prodigy reviews a stunning attacking game by the former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov.
