The Nimzo-Indian Defense is one of black´s most effective responses versus 1. d4 due mainly to the types of dynamic positions that frequently result early on in this chess opening. In the below chess video excerpt from the chess DVD ¨Crushing White – The Nimzo-Indian Defense¨ by GM Damian Lemos and Will Stewart, the viewer will learn one of the most dangerous attacking patterns in the Nimzo-Indian Defense involving a direct onslaught against white´s king very early in the game. This example begins normally as black gives up his dark-square bishop to double white´s c-pawns with 4. …Bxc3+, followed by a queenside fianchetto for black. However shortly after black embarks on a rapid attack against white´s king with moves like 9. …g5, 12. …h5, and 13. …Rg8 – firmly lining up pressure on the g-file and specifically establishing a focal point on g2. Black ends the game explosively with a queen and rook sacrifice that leads to forced checkmate on white´s king – adequately demonstrating black´s attacking resources in the Nimzo-Indian Defense!
