TheChessWebsite opens with 1. d4 and employs the Queen’s Gambit. Black plays a somewhat slow plan with 8. …a6 and 9. …b5 – allowing white to create instant pressure on the C-file and threats against the h7-pawn with 11. Qc2. Black’s pawn sacrifice on 15. …Nd5 wasn’t necesarry as it gave white a clear advantage without compensation for black. TheChessWebsite continued with solid, patient technique however he did commit a few long-term errors by permanently weakening his kingside with moves like 20. f4, 26. f3, and 37. f4. Black had solid chances until he liquidated his attacking pieces with 50. …Qxc2+?? Black also had chances to draw until 53. …h4? – it was much better to activate his king first to shoulder white’s king away from the active e4 square with 53. …Kf5. Black still retained chances to draw after 55. Ra8 however he with 56. …Rh7?? he blundered another pawn, leading to a nice conversion of the win by TheChessWebsite with the white pawns.
