I opened with white and my opponent employed the Kan Variation of the Sicilian Defense, going for early queenside expansion with 6. …b5. I decided to fianchetto and castle early while black developed on the queenside, enabling me to use a typical sacrifice in this line with 11. Nd5!? Black was unable to cope with the complications and dropped a piece.
