GM Evgeniy Najer Vs GM Alexander Moiseenko – 2011 Russian Team Championship. Najer played a very different opening, similar to the Rossolimo Variation with an early Bb5 to counter the Sicilian, involving an early Qc3 by white with the idea of limiting black’s dark-squared bishop to the role of protecting the pawn on g7. Certainly an interesting and unique idea, and Moiseenko seemed caught off-guard by the resulting position. Najer followed up his eclectic opening choice with an excellent disregard for the material considerations of the position, sacrificing a piece with 15. Nc4!! and thereby obtaining a lasting, crushing positional advantage.
