Today I played a training game against the London System, the opening I have a love-hate relationship with.

I went for my usual c5 and Qb6 setup, in which I put pressure on the b2 pawn as soon as possible and try to disrupt white’s development and stop him from creating his standard London pawn triangle which is very hard to break open.

My opponent made a very serious mistake very early on and failed to react properly to the queenside pawn storm which starts after Qb6 Qb3 c4, forcing a trade of queens and starting a minority attack. I was much better, but, as per usual, managed to complicate things. It was a very instructive game.
