Lasker Smashes the Sicilian Scheveningen in 20 Moves

Featured is a chess miniature between Emanuel Lasker and Vasja Pirc from 1935. In response to Pirc’s Sicilian Scheveningen, Lasker launches his f-pawn with an eye on the f5-break. Pirc ignores this idea and looks to quickly maneuver his knight to the invasive c4-square. The issue with Pirc’s knight transfer is that it neglects development when the position is about to be cracked open. Lasker’s forceful sequence of follow-up moves decides the game after only 20 moves.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
