Ivanchuk Crushes a Pseudo-Catalan in 12* Moves

Featured is a sharp chess game between Lars Bo Hansen and Vasyl Ivanchuk from the 1986/87 European Youth Championship. Confronting a Pseudo-Catalan Opening, Ivanchuk immediately challenges Hansen’s center with his c-pawn. Notably, without committing to e6, Ivanchuk’s light-squared bishop maintains active possibilities. After only 12 moves, Ivanchuk obtains a decisive advantage, with the rest of the game showcasing a complete collapse of Hansen’s kingside.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
