♛ Find the Anti Fried Liver Defense variations shown in the video in this blog-post – https://chess-teacher.com/italian-game-counter/

In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov teaches you how to counter the Italian Game and the Fried Liver Attack as Black.

The Italian Game arises after the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4, and it is one of the oldest and most popular chess openings for White, with over 200 million games played.

One of White’s most common attacking ideas is 4.Ng5, aiming for the tricky Fried Liver Attack.

Although Black has several options after 3.Bc4, such as 3…Nf6 (the Two Knights Defense) or 3…Bc5 (the Giuoco Piano), these are highly theoretical variations. To play them successfully, Black must memorize a lot of opening theory, which often leads to facing White’s home preparation.

That’s why GM Smirnov introduces you to a simple, easy-to-learn variation to counter both the Italian Game and the Fried Liver Attack, while avoiding all the complex theory. Not only is this line easier to play, but it also gives Black a clear and strong attacking plan.

The key move is 3…h6, known as the Anti-Fried Liver Defense, which permanently prevents White from playing 4.Ng5. You’ll also learn a secret gambit variation that gives Black a strong initiative, rapid development, and a powerful attacking plan that puts White under pressure.

Here’s the best part—only 1% of players have found the correct defense against this gambit. So, you have a high chance of surprising your opponents in the opening and finishing the game early!
