Featured is a sharp chess game between Pranav V. and Aswath S. from Round 9 of the 2025 FIDE World Junior Chess Championship. Emerging from a King’s Indian Attack setup, Pranav aggressively countered Aswath’s 7th move, b5, with energetic play on the queenside. With Pranav’s king safely castled and Aswath’s still two tempi away, the opening of lines favored Pranav. His sharp 12th move f5, calculated for nearly 37 minutes, triggered complications that Aswath was unable to navigate accurately. As a result of Pranav’s dynamic play from the outset, Aswath’s king never managed to find a safe haven.
