Carlsen’s PAWN STORM in the London System

Featured is an excellent game from the 2025 Champions Chess Tour Chessable Masters Playoffs Quarterfinals game 1 between Magnus Carlsen and Yu Yangyi. Out of a London System, Yu’s approach is to play Bg4. Carlsen responds with a pawn storm on the kingside which establishes a lasting space advantage. In Carlsen’s first 7 moves, 6 of them are with the pawns. The final position is our reminder that even in a simplified endgame, an Alpha Zero pawn can still be deadly! This 10+0 rapid game was played on February 18th, 2025.
