In this video GM Damian Lemos analyzes the 1st round of Tata Steel 2014 between Grandmasters Loek Van Wely and Sergey Karjakin. We’ll examine a Catalan variation, main line with Qc2-a4-Qxc4 where White manages to get Black’s bishop pair in the middlegame. However, Black proves that the bishop pair sometimes is not as good as it looks and gets the best of it in a drawish-looking endgame.
