The Loose Pieces!

Tactical Motifs 3 – LM Dana Mackenzie from ChessLecture

Dana starts out informing the student that “Loose Pieces are not protected nor defended and they can quickly become ‘en-prise’.” Beginners will appreciate Dana cutting to a key learning position as he demonstrates a loose piece in action, he then demonstrates that not giving due attention to a loose piece will enable opportunity for an opponent to gain time in middlegame development; which allows a swift build up of pressure, which in turn allows the attacker to gain advantage in space and completing positional objectives, this then develops into a winning attack.
