Everyone enjoys attacking chess: bold moves, pins, pressure, checks, the King starts running only to meet a surprise sacrifice and an inevitable checkmate.
Attacking chess is exciting, fun and some of the most loved games in history are those that feature aggressive play and clever combinations to deliver the win.
Beating strong players in this fashion takes a lot of skill and effort which is why we must arm ourselves with new ideas and techniques constantly, especially from the highest level.
That is why GM Damian Lemos recorded this DVD, “Aggressive Attacks”, to show how top Grandmasters attack. From choosing an opening that will allow them to open lines against the King quickly to the techniques that will put most pressure on the opponent’s position, GM Lemos reveals exactly how the best players conduct their attacks in a series of deeply analyzed games.
In this preview of “Aggressive Attacks”, Damian Lemos analyzes a game between GM Alexander Khalifman, the FIDE World Champion in 1999, and GM Evgeny Sveshnikov, who has a popular and aggressive variation of the Sicilian Defense named after him. From a seemingly quiet Queen’s Gambit Declined, the center soon gets opened and a powerful attack launched against the King, trapped in the center.
Watch as 2 top GMs fight it out and see how a successful attack is conducted at the Grandmaster level.
Enjoy the video and remember to check out the DVD.
