The Benoni is all about plans and patterns, and this game was a great example of how understanding a position helps you make quick and correct decisions.
It was a fianchetto Benoni, which I’d never played before and have no experience in. I have spent a lot of time studying it, though, and many patterns are the same as in the normal Benoni defense variations, which helped a lot.
I made a very thematic mistake as well, I pushed e5 prematurely, which gave up my entire advantage. I was +3 before that, and e5 made the position equal. All in all, for all Benoni and all d4 players, this should be instructive.
