🔹 Carlsen Uses Our Dirty Opening TRICK to Demolish a GM in 11 Moves! – https://youtu.be/gaQtn72mAEY
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you the trickiest and trappiest opening variation for White against the Caro-Kann Defense. It is the Fantasy Variation, which happens after 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.f3.
The initial purpose of the move 3.f3 is straightforward; White wants to maintain the central pawns on e4 and d4. Unless Black tries to challenge the center, White can comfortably maintain a strong center, develop pieces easily, and have a nice position. And Black tries to do this with dxe4, which is the mainline.
This tricky variation is followed by an aggressive gambit, called the Maroczy Gambit (in the Maroczy Variation), where the most natural-looking moves and the most played moves by Black are losing.
