The Fantasy Caro-Kann is a very tricky opening to face. I’ve played it with both colors and with mixed success, and I somehow always got complicated, uncomfortable positions which were hard to navigate. This game was no exception. My opponent chose a line I’ve never seen before and I ended up blundering while trying to play a thematic pattern. I was busted on move 8! Luckily for me, I saw the win for him but he did not and I managed to get away with it, finally developing my pieces, castling and ended up winning.
