The Caïssa Club is named after the mythical Thracian dryad portrayed as the goddess of chess. Caïssa originates from the 658-line poem, Scacchia Ludus c. 1565, by Italian Renaissance poet Hieronymus Vida, which describes a chess game on Mount Olympus between Apollo and Mercury in the presence of the other gods.
The Caïssa Club is a joint gift program which recognizes dedicated individuals, corporations and foundations who make a combined annual gift of $1,000 of more.
