This game is a perfect example of capitalizing on positional advantages in chess.
I faced a higher rated opponent in the London System and I got a vastly superior, even winning position in the middlegame. I had several positional advantages – a protected passed pawn, three weaknesses to target, better major pieces, and more plans to go for.
I played the position well up to a point. And then a strategic trade led me astray. I spent several tempi trying to trade off a piece, and suffered a great time loss as a result of that. My opponent got to play his only offensive idea in the meantime, equalizing the position and my advatage was lost.
