The path of no resistance · Road to GM, Game 178

Sometimes you lose without ever having a chance. Without ever making your opponent struggle. Without ever trying to win.

This is what happened to me in this game. The feeling after such a loss is bitter, a relentless urge to run to a forest and scream overwhelms you, You feel weak, helpless and you want to hide.

Why does this happen? I think it’s because you start the game fearing to lose, expecting to lose, not thinking you stand the smallest chance to win. I have promised myself after this game, that I would never sit down at the board thinking that again.
