The chess prodigy from Iran, Alireza Firouzja, has already established his position among the chess elites. He is rated 2759 (April 2021) in classical chess. He is also exceptionally strong in both rapid and blitz. And in the Internet chess, he has demonstrated how strong he is in so many occasions already. Therefore, it’s not very surprising that he is able to deliver chess masterpieces over the board.

In this video lesson, the RCA guest coach IM Mat Kolosowski analyzes one such game played by Alireza Firouzja against Mila Zarkovic at the Sharjah Masters 2019. In this game, Firouzja first sacrificed his rook for an exchange, then he sacrificed a piece, therefore being a whole rook down. Yet, his attack was so fierce that Zarkovic couldn’t find appropriate defense.
