The Elephant Gambit is an aggressive attempt at breaking white’s center, causing confusion, and going for a swift mating attack. I have tried to give you a simple antidote against it, with which you can refute the gambit every time!

Similarly to other gambits, the Elephant Gambit is not completely sound. There is no simple refutation against it, but there is a way to force black into a calm position in which you get to keep your pawn and risk nothing at all.

I have covered all of black’s options and given you a simple option against each. I hope you never lose to the Elephant again!
