Bobby Fischer wasn’t always a strong chess player. He played his first US Junior Championship when he was 12 years old. His result was unlike his later tournament performances. This is his round 2 game in which he faced the Samisch King’s Indian.

Bobby started playing tournaments when he was 12. When he started he wasn’t the monster he became just a few years later. He seems to have improved at an extremely fast pace in the three years following this tournament. From being a 1800ish rated player, he went on to become the US Chess Champion, the youngest GM in history, and he played the candidates tournament in 1959.
