Jose Raul Capablanca – Enrique Delmonte
Match-series (1901)
Sicilian, Smith-Morra Gambit

This is Jose Raul Capablanca’s first recorded classical game. It was played in a match series in 1901, when he was only 13 years old. He faced Delmonte, an unknown weaker player in the mad Smith-Morra Gambit.

The game lasted only 18 moves, but it was a textbook example of amazing attacking chess. Capablanca wasted no time and game his opponent no breathing room. Learn from this game!
