Before the start of the match Bobby Fischer had said that he would beat Miguel Najdorf in 25 moves. And he defeated him in just 24 moves! Fischer’s opening preparation was key to his victory. The Najdorf variation was played and Fischer surprised Najdorf at move no.6 by playing h3.

The critical moment of the game was move no.14 when Fischer made an exchange sacrifice playing Rxe4. Najdorf’s central pawn structure was collapsed and Fischer won the game eventually.
