LeelaRookOdds’s English Schools Grandmaster in 25 Moves

Featured is an interesting chess game between Chess AI LeelaRookOdds and Grandmaster Fin64 on lichess. Leela plays the English Opening minus a queen rook and immediately focuses on restricting Black’s …d5 break with 4.Qb3. The position sharpens once Leela plants an invasive pawn with 14.f5. Despite being down a rook and two pawns after just 18 moves, Leela generates tremendous pressure against Black’s kingside castled position. By move 20, the evaluation has already equalized, and by move 22 Black is lost, resigning in only 25 moves. As is often the case in Leela’s games, its queen proved far more active and productive than its counterpart.
