Dubov Translates Praggnanandhaa’s Italian

Featured is an excellent chess game between Praggnanandhaa R and Daniil Dubov from the Round 4 Tiebreaks of the 2025 FIDE World Cup. Out of the Italian Game, we reach a fixed center after 5.d5. A key moment arises when Praggnanandhaa exchanges his good bishop for Dubov’s knight on f6. Determining which minor piece exchange to make can be difficult to assess, especially in a faster time control like this rapid game at 15+10. Dubov’s queen knight becomes a dominant piece, while Praggnanandhaa’s light-squared bishop is left staring off into space for nearly the entire game.
